The Report of the On-the-Day Evaluation of this year's event was carried out by Ask Clyde.

It is a very postive report.

However, it highlights a need for a change of venue as Ability Fest becomes better known.

To this end Ability Fest '07 will be held in the Radisson-SAS Hotel in Argyle Street Glasgow on Wednesday 23rd May 2007.

We have been able to make a firm booking at this early stage due to financial contributions from Momentum Scotland, Careers Scotland and Strathclyde Police Force.

We will be seeking additional funding over the next few months.

Ability Fest is run annually as a FREE and unique opportunity for disabled people, families and carers and service organisations to find out about opportunities for learning, employment and leisure activities in the West of Scotland. The theme in 2006 was:

What's Working?
Celebrating Good Practice, Breaking Down Barriers.

As usual Ability Fest '06 centred round an Exhibition of organisations that can support disabled people to take up opportunities in the community. In 2006 78 0rganisations exhibited and around 800 people participated in the event.

In addition to the exhibition, there were various activities and workshops. These included:

The Momentum Scotland Assistive Technology Roadshow
A comprehensive display of assistive hardware and software

(Between these times Momentum staff will be available for drop-in sessions)
We know what the barriers are - 2 user-led sessions for disabled delegates only
(Facilitated by Equal Access to Employment and its partners. The information gathered at these workshops will be used to develop service user involvement within the Equal Access to Employment Strategy)
