Completing the Jigsaw : Involving Employers

Workshop Programme

Discussion Workshops aimed at giving disabled people the opportunity to discuss disability issues relating to employment and training with prospective employers and support organisations.

  1. Steps to Employment Disabled people will tell their stories about gaining employment or qualifications. Representatives from a range of support agencies and employers will respond to their stories.
  2. Employers and Employees Employers will talk about what they are looking for in an employee; how their recuitment process works; and how they support their employees. Disabled people will talk about what their expectations from employment and what support is needed to make it work.
  3. The Employability Agenda Information sharing and discussion aimed at disabled people about the Government and Local Partnership initiatives to support people into work.
  4. When you're 16 - what next? Exploring ideas for helping disabled school pupils identify the options and make informed choices about what to do when they leave school.
  5. Disability Equality? The Disability Rights Commission (DRC) is running two workshops. Come along in the morning and hear about the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). Come back in the afternoon to find out about the new Disability Equality Duty (DED).

  6. Music-making Workshop, led by Artform: Inclusive Arts Project
  7. Technology Roadshow, led by Momentum Scotland. Drop-in taster sessions on the latest assistive technology
